Global Citizens Festival

This past Saturday was the Global Citizens Festival (GCF) held at the great lawn of Central Park. The festival is a concert which helps fight poverty. They gave away  “free” tickets to thousands of people. I say “free” because you do pay for them with your time. In order to get these tickets, you have to earn points. How does one earn points you ask. Well you have to fill out several surveys and sign petitions in order to be able to get enough points to get into the raffle for tickets.  As far as money goes, you don’t pay for the tickets, they are free. The rest of the tickets left were sold to groupon and other deal sites.

Most us would not have a chance to see a live performance by legend Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, The Kings of Leon and John Mayer. As an added bonus, The female president of Liberia Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was a guest speaker. DSLR cameras were not permitted, but I managed sneak mine in and respectfully, snap a few shots, enough to be able to share with you.

Alicia Keys performs Empire State of Mind.

More from her performance.

I am grateful to have been able to see her perform.

Gerard Butler made a guest appearance.

John Mayer put on a great show.

John Mayer got everyone up and dancing.

Bono introduced Stevie Wonder.

The Master Blaster legend, Stevie Wonder.

This was the highlight of the night for me.
Seeing a live performance of “Master Blaster” made my heart happy.

That concludes the this humble report of the Global Citizens Festival.
